The Tabernacle is a beautifully reimagined former chapel, transformed into a private retreat for two in the village of Alderholt, near Fordingbridge. With the New Forest in one direction, Cranborne Chase National Landscape in the other and the Dorset coast within easy reach, it is a lovely spot for a few days of exploring, unwinding, or a bit of both.
INTERIOR
Step inside and the first thing you will notice is the impressive open-plan living space. High vaulted ceilings and exposed oak beams give the room a wonderful sense of height and character, while warm timber, rich colours and carefully chosen furnishings make it feel cosy and inviting. Curl up together in front of the feature fire, settle in for a film, or simply enjoy having nowhere you need to be.
The kitchen forms part of the sociable open-plan living space and is fully equipped for your stay, whether you are preparing breakfast before a day exploring or cooking dinner together in the evening. You’ll find an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, toaster, kettle, along with a Bosch Tassimo coffee pod machine. A few coffee pods are provided to get you started.
There is a dining area for relaxed meals together, as well as a breakfast bar, perfect for slower mornings over coffee. We also provide tea, coffee, sugar, and fresh milk for your arrival.
The king-sized bedroom has a wonderfully cocooning feel, with warm tones, natural wood and soft furnishings creating a restful space to retreat to at the end of the day. There is a TV in the bedroom, where you can log into your own streaming apps and settle in for a film or favourite series.
An adjoining dressing area gives you plenty of room to unpack and make yourself at home, with a dressing table and generous wardrobe storage for your clothes and belongings.
The bathroom is finished in rich stone tones and features both a walk-in rainfall shower and bath, giving you another lovely place to properly switch off, whether you prefer a refreshing shower in the morning or a long soak after a day exploring.
For longer stays, there is also a handy utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer, with laundry pods provided. You’ll also find a hoover, iron and ironing board, making it easy to freshen up clothes and keep everything organised during a longer break.
OUTSIDE SPACE
Outside is where The Tabernacle really comes into its own. Your enclosed private courtyard has been created for long, lazy hours outdoors, with your own hot tub tucked beneath a substantial timber gazebo and a barrel sauna just a few steps away. Move between the heat of the sauna and a soak in the hot tub, stretch out with a book in the sunshine, or enjoy a drink together beneath the gazebo as evening draws in.
The courtyard is surrounded by mature greenery, giving it a wonderfully tucked-away feel, with outdoor seating for warm mornings and sunny afternoons. With the hot tub sheltered beneath the gazebo, a little changeable British weather needn't spoil your plans.
