The Local Area

There are a plethora of things to see and do in the local area. A few of our top suggestions include: ❃ Just a few minutes away is Amesbury, the oldest continuously inhabited town in Britain and the gateway to the world-famous Stonehenge ❃ Enjoy peaceful riverside walks along the Avon, explore Durrington Walls and Woodhenge, or spend an afternoon browsing independent shops and cafés in Amesbury’s historic centre. ❃ A short drive south brings you to Old Sarum, the original site of Salisbury with sweeping views over the cathedral city ❃ The medieval city of Salisbury, renowned for it’s beautiful cathedral with the tallest spire in the UK and surrounded by a beautiful green area. Salisbury still has twice-weekly charter markets which have run continuously since 1227 which are worth a visit on Tuesdays and Saturdays. We have collaborated with local restaurants to offer you discounts for a range of cuisines - codes are shared in our digital guidebook :) Bulford also provides a convenient base for exploring nearby towns and villages full of character. Devizes, known for its historic market square and the impressive Caen Hill Locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal, is well worth a visit. Marlborough offers elegant Georgian architecture, boutique shops, and excellent eateries along its broad High Street. Other charming spots nearby include Pewsey, with its traditional country pubs, and the pretty villages scattered across the Vale of Pewsey and the Woodford Valley. The area is also renowned for its forest sporting activities, and the New Forest National Park and the famous Dorset Jurassic Coastline are just under an hour’s drive away. The area is centrally located to offer easy travel options to Southampton, Winchester, Stockbridge, Bath and Bristol, as well as a direct train link to London Waterloo.
